Aadit Palicha
Aadit Palicha is an Indian entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and chief executive officer of Zepto, a quick-commerce company that popularized 10-minute grocery delivery in India.[1] Emerging as one of the youngest startup founders in India’s technology ecosystem, Palicha gained national prominence after scaling Zepto into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise within a few years of its launch.[2] His entrepreneurial journey, marked by an early departure from Stanford University and rapid operational expansion in the Indian retail market, has made him a prominent figure in discussions around India’s startup economy and quick-commerce revolution.[3]
Early life and education
Aadit Palicha was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, in 2001.[4] He spent a significant part of his childhood in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he attended GEMS Modern Academy.[5] During his school years, he developed an interest in mathematics, computer science, and entrepreneurship.[6]
Palicha completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at GEMS Modern Academy and reportedly graduated with one of the institution’s highest academic scores.[7] He later enrolled at Stanford University in the United States to study computer science.[8]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Palicha returned to India along with his childhood friend Kaivalya Vohra. Dissatisfied with remote education and increasingly interested in building technology ventures, the two eventually decided to leave Stanford and pursue entrepreneurship full time.[9]
Entrepreneurial career
Early ventures
Before founding Zepto, Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra experimented with several startup ideas, including projects related to mobility and technology services.[10] Their early entrepreneurial efforts exposed them to product development, logistics, and consumer technology trends.[11]
Founding of Zepto
In 2020, Palicha and Vohra launched a grocery delivery startup initially called KiranaKart.[12] The company first attempted to partner with neighborhood kirana stores to fulfill online orders but struggled to scale the model efficiently.[13]
In 2021, the startup was rebranded as Zepto and shifted toward a vertically integrated quick-commerce model built around dark stores and rapid fulfillment centers.[14] Under Palicha’s leadership as chief executive officer, Zepto focused on delivering groceries and essentials within approximately 10 minutes in major Indian cities.[15]
The company became one of the fastest-growing startups in India’s consumer technology sector and attracted investments from venture capital firms including Y Combinator, Glade Brook Capital, and Contrary Capital.[16] Zepto subsequently achieved unicorn status and emerged as a major competitor to Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and BigBasket in India’s quick-commerce industry.[17]
Expansion and business strategy
Palicha has frequently emphasized operational efficiency, logistics optimization, and customer convenience as core components of Zepto’s strategy.[18] Under his leadership, Zepto expanded beyond groceries into categories such as ready-to-eat food, café products, and broader daily essentials.[19]
By 2024, Zepto had reported significant revenue growth and a valuation in the multi-billion-dollar range.[20] In 2025, the company reportedly raised additional capital that increased its valuation to approximately US$7 billion.[21]
Palicha has also spoken publicly about Zepto’s ambitions to evolve into a broader Indian e-commerce and logistics platform.[22]
Leadership style and public profile
Palicha became known within India’s startup ecosystem for achieving rapid business growth at a young age.[23] Media coverage often highlighted his age, Stanford background, and operational focus in scaling Zepto.[24]
He has advocated for disciplined execution and cost management in quick commerce, arguing that sustainable operations are more important than aggressive expansion alone.[25] Palicha has also publicly addressed concerns surrounding labor conditions, delivery timelines, and dark-pattern pricing practices in the quick-commerce sector.[26]
In 2026, he stated that Zepto was open to government feedback regarding labor protections and social security for gig workers.[27]
Recognition and achievements
Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra were featured in Forbes and Forbes India lists recognizing influential young entrepreneurs and startup founders.[28] They were also included in discussions surrounding India’s youngest wealth creators due to Zepto’s rapid valuation growth.[29]
Industry observers have credited Palicha with helping accelerate the mainstream adoption of quick-commerce services in India.[30]
Personal life
Palicha has generally maintained a private personal life despite his public profile as a startup founder.[31] He has frequently described himself as deeply interested in technology, product design, and operational systems.[32]
