Dr. Ritesh Malik born on 14 June 1989, is an Indian entrepreneur, angel investor, and ecosystem builder best known as the founder of Innov8 Coworking, one of India’s early large-scale coworking platforms. Trained as a medical doctor, he transitioned from healthcare into technology entrepreneurship during the rise of India’s startup ecosystem in the mid-2010s.[1][2]

Over the years, Malik has emerged as a prominent figure in India’s startup and innovation landscape through his work in coworking infrastructure, angel investing, startup mentorship, and educational philanthropy. His ventures and investments have spanned sectors including technology, healthcare, education, cybersecurity, and future-of-work infrastructure.[3][4]

Early life and education

Ritesh Malik was born in Khanna, Punjab, India.[5] He pursued medical studies at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, where he earned an MBBS degree.[6]

While completing his medical training and house surgency at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, Malik developed an interest in entrepreneurship and technology-driven problem solving.[7] His exposure to India’s growing startup culture during this period contributed to his transition away from clinical medicine toward entrepreneurship.[8]

Career

Entrepreneurship and early ventures

Before founding Innov8, Malik was involved in startup investments and entrepreneurial initiatives focused on technology and innovation.[9] He later established Guerrilla Ventures, an angel investment initiative supporting early-stage startups in India.[10]

His early participation in startup mentoring and investment activities positioned him within India’s emerging founder-investor network during the expansion of the country’s digital economy in the 2010s.[11]

Founding of Innov8

In 2015–2016, Malik founded Innov8 Coworking in New Delhi as a premium coworking and flexible office platform designed for startups, freelancers, creators, and enterprises.[12][13]

Innov8 emerged during the early growth phase of India’s coworking industry and differentiated itself through community-driven workspace design and startup-focused environments.[14] The company rapidly expanded across multiple Indian cities and became one of the country’s most visible coworking brands.[15]

Innov8 was incubated and seed funded through Y Combinator’s Startup School ecosystem, helping the company gain international startup exposure during its formative years.[16][17]

The company later expanded to dozens of locations across India and managed over a million square feet of workspace infrastructure.[18]

Acquisition by OYO

In 2019, Innov8 was acquired by OYO in an all-cash transaction as part of OYO’s expansion into workspace and commercial real estate solutions.[19][20]

Following the acquisition, Innov8 became integrated into OYO Workspaces while retaining its identity as a coworking and managed office brand.[21]

The acquisition was considered one of the notable consolidation moves within India’s coworking sector during the late 2010s.[22]

Angel investing

Malik has invested in numerous early-stage startups across sectors including SaaS, healthcare, fintech, media, mobility, education, and consumer technology.[23][24]

Companies associated with his investment portfolio have included Josh Talks, Ketto, Pepper Content, Sarva, Agnikul Cosmos, and Inc42 among others.[25]

He has frequently advocated for founder-first investing and ecosystem collaboration within India’s startup environment.[26]

Education and institutional initiatives

Malik became associated with Plaksha University as a founder and trustee during the institution’s formation phase.[27] The university was established with a focus on interdisciplinary technology education and leadership development in India.[28]

He has also supported educational and entrepreneurship initiatives related to innovation ecosystems, startup incubation, and future workforce development.[29]

Public engagement and thought leadership

Malik has spoken publicly on entrepreneurship, coworking, startup culture, healthcare innovation, and the future of work.[30]

He was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.[31] His public commentary has frequently focused on entrepreneurship infrastructure, startup policy, and technology-led societal transformation.[32]
